Rockpile Recording is located just minutes from scenic downtown Rockport, with shops, restaurants, beaches, quarries and parks all a short stroll away.
The studio is located in the bottom - mostly underground level - of a large home in this quiet community. It was designed with live acoustic instruments in mind (since the owner is a drummer). Given the limited area, extra care was taken to squeeze the best possible sound and functionality out of the spaces. Iso and control rooms are very well isolated from each other, while still maintaining a view between rooms. This lends itself well to the intimacy required for live recording.
Owner / operator Greg Dann is a working multi-instumentalist who posesses a diverse background not only in music, but in photography and science. He has spent countless years honing his skills at getting a good sound in a limited space, and takes pride in having done so on countless recordings. His background in physics bodes well for his knowledge and understanding of acoustics and properly capturing those sounds with high end mics and electronics. His relaxed and accomodating manner, along with his understanding of music on many levels also makes him a useful source for your production needs should they become necessary.
